Playground of the Gods
Why is Mt. Pulag often called the "Playground of the Gods"? Mt. Pulag is named as such because the locals considered the mountain as a sacred place. Some tribes used the mountain as a burial site because they believed that when a person dies, his soul will sail to the mountains. It is the Philippines’ third highest mountain and Luzon’s highest peak. The mountain hosts more than five hundred plant species. The dwarf bamboo, for instance, is endemic to the mountain. It also houses several endangered species of mammals. Designated as a National Park and tentative UNESCO World Heritage site, Mount Pulag is definitely a haven for nature lovers.
